NFL 2011 Continuous Live Draft Round 2 (Picks 49-64)
Continuous Live Draft

"CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick"
- Drafttek's final Consensus Mock Draft was released on the morning of April 28th and submitted for grading/scoring by several entities. The player listed here was on that mock.

"Live Mock Simulated Pick" - the player listed here was Drafttek.com's simulated choice immediately prior to the actual selection.
If the actual selection has not yet been made, the player listed is the simulated choice from the previous iteration. In this case this can change from pick to pick depending how the simulation plays out.

49 Indianapolis
Benjamin Ijalana
    Villanova
    OG
    Reach/Value:     -16
Height:
6'4"
Weight:
317
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick
Colin Kaepernick
Live Mock Simulated Pick
Ryan Mallett
The Colts go OL again with Ijalana and this guy has super foot speed and long arms. Excellent drive blocking lineman, slides well to either side, good anchor and balance. Played left tackle, but will most likely move to Guard and help solidify the line with the second of two excellent offensive linemen. Super pick for the Colts as they FINALLY get serious about addressing the offensive line. Really surprising that Bill Polian moved up to get a guy who was not from one of the "major" schools in collegiate football. Grade: A
50 San Diego
Marcus Gilchrist
    Clemson
    CB
    Reach/Value:     -35
Height:
5'10"
Weight:
195
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick
Cameron Heyward
Live Mock Simulated Pick
Martez Wilson
Athletically Gilchrist is a top prospect. He's big, strong & quick. He can lead a defense from the secondary but has some issues diagnosing plays & converging on the ball. The biggest knock, however, is his lack of playmaking abilities; had just 1 INT in 4 years.
Grade: B-
51 Tampa Bay
Da'Quan Bowers
    Clemson
    DE43-2
    Reach/Value:     +45
Height:
6'3"
Weight:
278
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick
Adrian Clayborn
Live Mock Simulated Pick
Da'Quan Bowers
A top 5 talent at 51. You must be dreaming, right? Bowers' knee concerns dropped him like a rock but he surfaces in Tampa Bay, where he'll team with Gerald McCoy, Brian Price & fellow rookie Adrian Clayborn. That is one young, talented DL. Bowers should be motivated to prove the other 31 teams wrong. Great pick.
Grade: A+
52 NY Giants
Marvin Austin
    North Carolina
    DT43
    Reach/Value:     -11
Height:
6'2''
Weight:
309
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick
Rodney Hudson
Live Mock Simulated Pick
Mason Foster
In this talent-grab, the Giants took the top DT on their board. While the character concerns of Marvin Austin scare me, this pick can be successful. DT Cofield wants a lot of money and a long contract. Chris Canty should be here for the next year or two, but his salary really starts to escalate. Rocky Bernard has done a lot of nothing for the Giants since he arrived. The Giants are also waiting on what last year's 2nd rounder, Linval Joseph, has to offer. Marvin Austin has loads of talent, it's up to the Giants to maximize it. Hopefully they won't regret passing on Mikel LeShoure or an OLB.
Grade: B
53 Chicago
Stephen Paea
    Oregon State
    DT43
    Reach/Value:     +27
Height:
6'1"
Weight:
303
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick
Quinton Carter
Live Mock Simulated Pick
Ryan Mallett
The Bears might have had their eyes on Marvin Austin, only to see the GMen step up and snag the Tar Heel out from under their noses. Chicago quickly goes to Paea, an agile, athletic DT who is the last, top 3-tech guy for the 1st two rounds. Excellent upper body strength, set a record for lifts at the combine in Indianapolis. Displays solid leverage and could force teams to double-up on him. Only drawback is his size and shorter than average arms for a DT, but will likely make up for it with his athletic ability. Grade: B-
54 Philadelphia
Jaiquawn Jarrett
    Temple
    FS
    Reach/Value:     -48
Height:
6'0"
Weight:
198
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick
Kelvin Sheppard
Live Mock Simulated Pick
The Eagles needed secondary help though most thought they'd get it in the form of a CB. Jarrett will fight for the SS spot next to Nate Allen. He doesn't have the best size or speed but is a tackling machine, something you need in a defense with Asante Samuel. He isn't a big playmaker but is reliable. Jarrett fills a need, though may have been available a little later.
Grade: B
55 Kansas City
Rodney Hudson
    Florida State
    OG
    Reach/Value:     -12
Height:
6'2"
Weight:
299
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick
Titus Young
Live Mock Simulated Pick
Mikel LeShoure
Excellent pick for the Chiefs, as Hudson has quick hands, solid blast out of his stance, combined with good footwork and agility. Solid technique and uses good leverage, with good lateral movement. Hudson is also a good pass protecting lineman who will pick up quickly on opposition stunts and blitzes. He's undersized as a Guard, so there is a possibility the Chiefs slide him to Center at some point. Either way, Hudson gives the Chiefs a versatile and talented offensive lineman. Grade: B+
56 New England
Shane Vereen
    California
    RBF
    Reach/Value:     -31
Height:
5'10"
Weight:
210
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick
Allen Bailey
Live Mock Simulated Pick
Mikel LeShoure
Well New England finally lands a RB after passing on Ingram twice & others at 33. Vereen is the pick over LeShoure, which is interesting. Vereen is a bit undersized both vertically & horizontally. He also is not a speedster. He is a very balanced back but best of all, is a great pass-catcher out of the backfield. Still, LeShoure would have been nice.
Grade: C+

57 Detroit

LeShoure available at 57 & not the 2nd back taken? Surprising. The Lions traded up for him & now can pair him with a young & talented offense. LeShoure is a great complement to Jahvid Best & could become the majority ball-carrier this year. Great value selection, for sure.
Grade: A-
58 Baltimore
Torrey Smith
    Maryland
    WRF
    Reach/Value:     +8
Height:
6'1"
Weight:

CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick
Torrey Smith
Live Mock Simulated Pick
Leonard Hankerson
Mocks had been positing that Smith could be the Ravens' pick in round 1. Guess it's a good thing they waited, huh? This was a no-brainer pick. Baltimore needed speed to go with Mason & Boldin. Smith is the deep threat that Joe Flacco needed.
Grade: A
59 Cleveland
Greg Little
    North Carolina
    WRF
    Reach/Value:     -66
Height:
6'3"
Weight:
231
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick
Jerrel Jernigan
Live Mock Simulated Pick
Martez Wilson
The Browns finally get that WR toy for Colt McCoy. He's a former RB who will be a great fit in the West Coast Offense. Little will start immediately, and is an exact fit for the Browns.
Grade: B
60 Houston
Brandon Harris
    Miami (FL)
    CB
    Reach/Value:     +40
Height:
5'10"
Weight:
191
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick
Sam Acho
Live Mock Simulated Pick
Jason Pinkston
Houston needs to improve in the secondary and they move up for Brandon Harris, from the U. A solid man-to-man corner, Harris is also good in run support, having a quick burst to the runner with good instincts. Fluid in the hips for great change of direction, and isn't afraid to mix it up even though he's a more smallish DB. Will have to battle against taller wideouts, but displayed a 34" vertical leaping ability. Grade: C+
61 San Diego
Jonas Mouton
    Michigan

    Reach/Value:     -306

Alright, for all the shockers in the draft so far, this has to be the biggest. At 384 on our Big Board, Jonas Mouton was going to be lucky to get drafted and now he's gone in the second round? AJ Smith must have some confidence here because I'm not even sure he fits in the Chargers 3-4 scheme as he's projected as an undersized 4-3 Mike linebacker. The only justification at this point is that they're looking to invest heavily in their special teams, but at this point it's a total head-scratcher.
Grade: D
62 Miami
Daniel Thomas
    Kansas State
    RBF
    Reach/Value:     -49
Height:
6'0"
Weight:
230
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick
Marvin Austin

The Dolphins lacked a 2nd round pick because of the Brandon Marshall trade but they moved up from the 3rd round to get the former Wildcats star. He was actually a HS QB so the wildcat may still live. Anyway, Thomas is a bit slight & needs to add some bulk to be a feature guy. He also has ball security issues. However he is a nice fit for the system at a position of need.
Grade: B-
63 Pittsburgh
Marcus Gilbert
    Florida
    ROT
    Reach/Value:     +23
Height:
6'6"
Weight:
330
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick

Davon House
Marcus Gilbert is in the mold of a Steeler offensive lineman - big and strong. He moves very well, has sound technique in both pass and run blocking and gives them some versatility as he can play either side of the line. He hasn't shown a mean streak on tape, but at some point that Steeler mentality will take over. Not a great value but still a solid pick.
Grade: B
64 Green Bay
Randall Cobb
    Kentucky
    WRS
    Reach/Value:     -36
Height:
5'10"
Weight:
191
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick
James Carpenter
Live Mock Simulated Pick
Dontay Moch
Defensive coordinators everywhere are at this moment petitioning the NFL to declare the Packers' pass offense illegal. A former quarterback, Cobb brings the versatility, great route running, downfield blocking the Packers love and the special teams prowess they desperately need. Cobb amassed 4600 all-purpose yards in 35 games for Kentucky and will be the perfect addition to the Packers wide receiving corps.
Grade: A
